Pros
- talking to each other during meals again... I had forgotten what that's like
- talking to each other
- talking
- I've noticed my son has a super awesome personality, even more now that the TV isn't on to distract me from all of the cute things he does
- learning to appreciate silence
- trying to find hobbies to fill my "free" time... with a 7 month old, I have none
- we're probably saving on electricity - AAAHHH YEEEAAAHHH
- not bickering with my husband over his video game playing - it's been quiet and amicable around here
Cons
- sometimes I think I hear a murderer in my house because I never knew my house made so many sounds before
- after talking with (*at) a baby all day, I crave hearing another adult's voice - even if they're fictional
- I have a love affair with all of my shows, it's been hard not watching them
- turns out I'm addicted to posting pictures of my son on social media... go figure
- not sharing Garrett's cuteness with the world - now when I take pictures I think "who is this even for?! I'm depriving the world of him!!"
My goal by the end of the fast is to have more pros than cons regarding this experience. Also, I have a confession: 2 days into the fast, I cracked under pressure and watched some Psych. Do I regret it? No. Should I? Probably. But this week I've recommitted to doing better. Wish me luck folks.
I'll leave you with these super adorable pictures that we took yesterday with the super talented Hillary Brown, you can find her website here.

I know, I also don't know how this perfect and beautiful child is mine. What did I do to deserve this?! God is GREAT.
He still loves me, after 3 years of nagging. What a man.
A media fast for a whole month? I can't embed the meme that sums up my reaction to this. So, here's the link: http://weknowmemes.com/generator/uploads/generated/g1367473646767429086.jpg
ReplyDeleteI just saw this, and that meme was perfect.
DeleteI think that is great you are trying to do that! I sometimes wish I could do that with my husband because sometimes we get so caught up in media we forget that the other is there and don't talk instead. Maybe we will have to try this too. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWow, I don't know that I could last a month. I did love doing it for a week last year though! Your post kind of makes me want to do this in the future with my own young family.
