5 Months with my G baby

Garrett is 5 months old... as of almost 2 weeks ago. My bad. Life got busy ok? Get off my back about it.

Weight and height: not sure, he won't get weighed and measured for another week. But if I had to guess, I'd say about 16 lbs. He's working hard to increase his chunkiness factor.

Hair and eye color: brown eyes, light brown hair. My mom calls him "ojitos de chocolate" (little chocolate eyes); which is an apt description of the color. They're lighter than mine, but darker than most brown eyed people's.

Likes: being a busy body - he loves to be held and see everything from our vantage point, toys, his monkey named Chuy (pronounced "Chewy", for those of you who are not privy to Spanish), grabbing my hair and using it to direct where my head turns, grabbing my necklace while he nurses/pretty much whenever he gets a chance, rolling around on the ground with dad, being tickled and fake eaten by dad, yelling, screeching, reaching pitches that are only discernible by dogs, smiling, laughing when I say "no", chomping down on anything within his reach, spitting - he's recently figured out that trick and I'm *loving* it, sharing apples with mom, bananas, sweet potatoes, morning snuggles with whoever picks him up - he needs to be held for 5-10 min or he's very offended, sitting up like a big boy, Facetiming with Abuelito and Abuelita

Will put up with: baby food apples (think apple sauce), sitting in the high chair while I cook/clean, baths, letting me brush his hair, diaper changes - even though he thrashes the whole time

Dislikes: changing out of his PJs in the morning, getting lotioned up after his baths, when dad tries to play with him when he's hungry - he will not put up with it if he's hangry, when I hand him off to someone and walk away if he's tired and/or hungry - I'm the only person he wants in those situations (I'm only a little bit honored)

Personality, temperament, and attachment thus far: easy temperament, secure attachment. He is still very social, and is only getting more so! He has a new BFF named Theo in the ward - Theo's mom and I took the boys to Book Babies at the library and they both loved it!! Theo was in people-watching heaven, and Garrett was slightly annoyed that I wanted him to dance along to the songs. We'll work on it. I also love that I can always tell what he's thinking from his eyebrows - they're sooooo expressive.

Physical feats: He has 2 teeth!! I can't even believe it - he had the bottom two teeth come in the weekend before his 5 month "birthday". Teething is literally the worst thing in the world, so it wasn't fun. However, I suppose it's kind of necessary. He can sit up for more extended periods of time unassisted - he can sit for about 5-7 minutes. He also loves his play mat (the kind with the toys hanging down so he can play with - see the pictures below) - he's learning how to roll by rolling back and forth to the different toys. He can roll from belly to back and has almost gotten back to belly down - it's just those dang shoulders that get in the way. He's also babbling like a pro. There are rare moments in the Fisher home where his little voice isn't heard. We absolutely love it.

Mama's highlights: he's starting to become a little Mama's boy - he reaches for me if I hand him to others, and that occasionally includes his father. He's a little charmer and has learned to act shy around people. As soon as he hears some variation of "you're so cute" he smiles and then buries his face in my neck. It's a crowd pleaser - the kid is a grade A con artist. I couldn't be more proud of him.

Please enjoy these adorable pictures of my son, and thank you for reading!

Abuelita came to town for my birthday!! I absolutely LOVE when my mom visits - she's the greatest. And as you can see from this picture, she's a babe.

The giant Costco bear. Emphasis on giant.

Garrett loves his Abuelita!

Garrett is a spoiled little boy. His Abuelito has a red Ford F150 truck, so he got Garrett one to match! Garrett has the Raptor version, so we've gone off-roading a few times, NBD.

This is how I vacuum...

Tio Pancho came to visit!

"Can't a man scratch his shoulder in peace?!?!!"

TV remotes are for eating.

Using Dad's hair as reins.

Check out those teeth!

But first, lemme take a selfie.

My boy in his purple and pink high chair. In his defense, his mother bought this before she found out his gender. It was $5... and we're poor so... yeah.

His Benny the Beaver slippers that Abuelito got him (I told you he was spoiled).

Yummy.
